AFT Massachusetts represents librarians and library personnel at public facilities across the state, including the 28 libraries that make up the Massachusetts Library Staff Association. Our librarians work in small towns, big cities and lots of other communities in between. In recent years, local libraries in the Commonwealth have been hit hard by the tough economic times and have been forced to lay off staff and slash their hours of operation. As our public libraries face budget cuts—even closure—AFT Massachusetts is a forceful voice on behalf of this essential community service and the vital personnel who provide it.
