Early Childhood Educators
We’re early childhood educators who have joined AFT Massachusetts. If you’re an early childhood educator, we invite you to join us!
As we know, a growing body of research on brain development in very young children has confirmed the importance of early education and care from birth to age five.
The American Federation of Teachers understands that children who get a good educational start will go on to thrive in elementary school and beyond. AFT and AFT Massachusetts have been at the forefront of the fight, allied with advocates around the country and in Massachusetts with the Early Education for All campaign, for high quality early childhood education and providing those who do the work with the resources and tools needed to do the job.
But there still is much work to be done. The profession of early childhood education is still undervalued and, in general, not sufficiently respected. All of us in the field of early childhood education are underpaid and, often, we do not have benefits.
Our working conditions are the learning conditions of children.
That’s why AFT Massachusetts is committed to fight for public resources for early childhood educators. In a statewide campaign, the union is connecting with child care center teachers, directors, assistants and other staff in a new kind of organization – a union that represents all who work in the field of child care and early education. We’re building one strong, unified voice of this workforce to fight for increased public funding and support for the workforce!
If you are an early childhood educator, AFT Massachusetts is your link to educational resources, political clout and a professional union to improve wages and benefits in the child care industry.
